Even though his career lasted for only four years, no man has ever exerted more influence over the guitar than Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix’s musical skill, from the legendary Are You Experienced album to his iconic performance of The Star-Spangled at the Woodstock Music Festival, has captivated rock and roll fans and musicians alike for the past 50 years. With his death at the age of 27 in 1970, one of the brightest lights in music was extinguished, forever robbing the world of one of its most creative minds.
Hendrix’s flamboyant, colorful, and psychedelic wardrobe helped turn him into a legend, and the vest offered in this lot is a stunning example of his brash and singularly unique fashion sense. It would not have looked out of place on the cover of Axis: Bold As Love or Electric Ladyland. The vest is a tender blue, with a beautiful floral pattern embroidered in yellow, white, and blue. Multi-colored suede sections complete design, which extends across the back of the black-lined vest as well. The cloth buttons are pink, and goldenrod fasteners line the opposite side of the vest. This vest is in tremendous condition, and is accompanied by a LOA from Hendrix’s management team, and a LOA from his father, Al Hendrix.
