Under manager Davey Johnson, the New York Mets totally dominated Major League Baseball in 1986. Behind a loaded pitching staff, they finished the regular season with a record of 108-54. Four starting pitchers (Bob Ojeda, Dwight Gooden, Ron Darling and Sid Fernandez) all won at least 15 games, as Ojeda finished 18-5 with a 2.57 ERA, while Gooden went 17-6 with a 2.84 ERA. Offensively, Darryl Strawberry hit 27 homers with 93 runs batted in, Gary Carter had 24 HRs and 105 RBIs, Keith Hernandez hit .310, and Lenny Dykstra hit .295 with 31 stolen bases. In the postseason, the Mets defeated the Houston Astros in the NLCS before beating the Boston Red Sox in a most memorable seven-game World Series.

Offered here is Kevin Elster’s 1986 New York Mets World Series championship ring. As a 21-year-old, Elster recorded 30 at-bats for the Mets during the 1986 season and would go on to have a 13-year MLB career. This Balfour-manufactured, 10K gold ring features a round diamond set on a large blue colored stone, as additional smaller diamonds surround the bezel setting. “1986 WORLD CHAMPIONS” is proudly displayed in relief lettering. One side of the ring is centered by the Mets 25th anniversary team logo, with the name “ELSTER” above and his number “2” below. The opposite side boasts an image of the Commissioner’s Trophy between “Mets” and “116 WINS”. A partially-worn “NEW YORK” appears at the very bottom of each side. This ring is an approximate size 10 and weighs approximately 34.9 grams. The inside of the band includes manufacture and 10K marks that show minor wear. This ring comes with a LOA from Kevin Elster.
