Leopoldo Jesús Posada Hernández, better known as Leo Posada, or more recently as Jorge Posada’s uncle, wore this jersey his first season in the majors. The promising young Cuban got into 10 games at the tail end of the ‘60 season and hit a respectable .361 in 10 games, earning a roster spot for the next year. The white home flannel jersey shows moderate game use. The front left side has a handful of professional repairs and there is a small unrepaired hole under each arm pit area. The navy and red felt “Athletics” script is vibrant and clean and the navy piping around the front, collar and sleeves is intact. Wilson size “42” label is sewn in the lower left front tail and “Set 2-1960-37 is embroidered below in navy thread. The back has Posada’s number “37” is on the back in red and navy felt. There is a small hole just to the left of the “3”. The traditional Athletics elephant patch is present on the left sleeve but has been judged to be a replacement. The left sleeve of the 1960 uniforms originally had a black armband in honor of owner Arnold Johnson, but this has been removed. The original stitch marks are visible. This jersey comes with a full letter of authenticity from game worn jersey expert Dave Miedema.
