Actor, crooner and comedian, multi-dimensional Dean Martin was a major A-list entertainer and the King of Cool in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s keeping company with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and the rest of Hollywood’s Rat Pack. It’s hard to say he is best remembered as Jerry Lewis’ partner in the “Martin and Lewis,” comedy team because he is also remembered for so much more. A hilarious funny- man and immensely popular singer, Martin also took turns as a serious actor with roles such as “Michael Whiteacre,” in 1958’s World War II drama The Young Lions, co-starring Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift.
Martin wore this green wool U.S. military officer’s jacket with four golden American eagle buttons during the officer’s club scene in The Young Lions. Single breasted size 40 ½ jacket has button-down shoulder epaulets, with a 1” Enlisted Infantry U.S. Insignia pin and a 1” crossed muskets Branch Insignia pin on the lapels. A blue star inside a white clover and red circle patch is on the left shoulder. Western Costume Co. Hollywood label containing “Name: Dean Martin #9, Chest: 40 ½, is stitched into the right inside pocket. Jacket displays some wear with some blown stitching on the interior collar and comes with comes with Debbie Reynolds auction LOA signed by Debbie Reynolds.
