For over a decade the Yankees boasted one of the most potent one-two combinations in baseball history - Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. For more than a decade The Captain's late inning clutch hitting would but his club ahead and in the 9th the bullpen door would open and the Sandman would come in to slam the door on another Yankees win. This Home white jersey was worn by Rivera during the July 9, 2011 game during which Derek Jeter recorded his 3,000th career hit. Fittingly, Rivera made his appearance in the 9th inning of this milestone game, retiring the side and striking out one for his 22nd save of the season. The Majestic jersey is the team's timeless home white pinstripes and sports the famous intertwined "NY" in navy tackle twill on the left chest. Rivera has signed just below the Yanks logo in blue Sharpie adding "Game Used 7/9/11 Jeter's 3K Game". The front tail of the white home pinstripe jersey features the Majestic label with added "2011" and "46" tagging. MLB hologram sticker FJ 645373 and Steiner hologram are affixed. Yankees barcode 00000001434 is affixed below the tagging. The back boasts Rivera's number "42", the last player to wear it after it was retired in honor of Jackie Robinson.
