Perhaps you remember this story from news headlines: It was the summer after Ray Lewis and company downed the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. At a boat party on the Middle River of the Chesapeake, Ravens receptionist Toni Lekas handed off her bling to boyfriend Chuck Lykes so he could show it to a friend later, and then she left to go home. Shortly after, while helping dock the boat, Lykes had the horrifying slo-mo experience of watching the crown jewel get knocked off his finger by the rope and flung overboard. He leapt in the water after it and spent 3 hours searching in the pitch-black night to no avail. Once the story hit the media many divers went down searching for the ring. Many of them thought the "buried treasure" could be theirs, if only they could find it. Not even a scuba divers efforts over the next several days could recover the lost ring.  So a distraught, depressed Toni Lekas finally made two phone calls—the first to file a claim with Travelers Insurance, and the second to ask the NFL's permission to create a replacement ring. Both requests were approved.

Now fast-forward a bit as the hunt for buried treasure continued and the missing relic was eventually found! Having paid for Lekas' replacement ring, Travelers Insurance took possession of the original and then sold it to recoup their loss. Proudly presented here is that very Chesapeake Bay original, which appears no worse for wear and rates lovely Near Mint condition. Possibly the flashiest Super Bowl ring in history, the Jostens 10K-white-gold, size 10 ring weighs approximately 86.5 grams, measures approx. 1-1/2" wide and 1-1/2" tall, and boasts 243 round-cut diamonds. There is also purple amethyst, yellow gold and red enamel, as well as elaborate shank designs plus additional season information engraved inside the band. This is the exact same ring as the players received. The Travelers Insurance purchase receipt/LOA accompanies.
