Did anyone really believe that the greatest franchise in baseball history would somehow not christen its brand-new Yankee Stadium with a world championship? It was of course the Yanks' unparalleled 27th World Series victory and it came at the expense of the then-reigning champion Phillies. Hideki Matsui captured W.S. MVP honors for his astronomical .615 average, 3 HRs and 8 RBIs, while Derek Jeter batted a not-too-shabby .407 with a trio of doubles. This Balfour 14K-gold, size 10 ring belonged to a staff member with the A-affiliate Tampa Yankees whose home turf is George M. Steinbrenner Field. Weighing 44.7 grams, it showcases a glimmering array of diamonds with Yankee Stadium II featured in raised-relief on the shank and then again in a commemorative "Inaugural Season" imprint inside the band. The original "NY WORLD CHAMPIONS 2009" presentation box is included. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
