This intimate piece of personal memorabilia is from Hall of Fame slugger Mike Schmidt’s private collection and was presented to Schmidt by the American Association of College Baseball Coaches in recognition of his outstanding 1971 season at Ohio University where he played shortstop and helped the Bobcats reach the College World Series. Schmidt was named First Team All-MAC (Middle American Conference) for the 1969, 1970 and 1971 seasons and was named All-American in 1970 and 1971. He was inducted into the Ohio University Hall of Fame in 1995 and named to the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame in 2012.
This 16” x 13” framed certificate carries two signatures from the American Association of College Baseball Coaches. The year 1971 has not been stamped on the certificate but the 1970 certificate was included in a previous auction. This is the actual award given to Mike Schmidt, it is not a replica and no duplicates were ever authorized by Schmidt and it comes with a notarized letter of authenticity from Mike Schmidt.
