This magnificent 8” x 24 ½” black and white original panoramic photograph captures the 1941 graduating class of Ralph Waldo Emerson Junior High. Found in the fifth row from the top, the 15th in from the right is an unknown 15 year-old named Norma Jeane Baker. After having lived in a series of foster homes and orphanages, she had found sanctuary in the home of a friend of her family's, where she lived from 1937 to 1942. The following year the family had to move to the East Coast and could not afford to take her with them. To avoid yet another foster family or an orphanage, the 16 year-old Norma Jeane married her boyfriend Jim Dougherty. Within only a couple of years she was “discovered" and began a successful modeling career, which led to acting classes. She divorced Dougherty, signing her first studio contract in 1946 and changing her to Marilyn Monroe. The rest, as they say, is history. Comes with Gotta Have It LOA.
