Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Among a total of more than 7,400 copies recorded in PSA’s census reporting, less than two hundred examples have achieved a higher, unqualified tier. This late-career entry of Mantle was Topps' next-to-last regular issue collectible featuring the great slugger. The company selected a left-handed batting pose, and surrounded the choice likeness with unforgiving, patterned borders. Here, the beautifully resolved photograph is centered with exceptional visual symmetry, and thoroughly acceptable evidence of past handling is limited to touches at the corners' tips. Near Mint to Mint condition.
