This bellows operated air supply was in common use in the late 19th century and early 20th century. The bellows was attached to a hose which fit into the smoke helmet providing the fire fighter with air. Produced by Siebe Gorman & Co. LTD, Neptune Works Chessington Surrey, England. Oval manufacturers plaque and brass instruction plaque "Code of Signalling by Means of Life-line" is affixed to the top portion of the bellows. Augustus Siebe is known for inventing the first deep sea helmet in 1830 and also patented the first Smoke Helmet.
