They say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, but Cal Ripken’s MLB journey to 3,000 hits began with a 2-out single in the bottom of the 3rd off Dennis Lamp. This Official Selig Major League Baseball is signed by Dennis Lamp on the sweet spot in blue ink, and includes the inscription “I gave up Cal Ripken Jr. First Hit 8-16-81”. On the south panel below the signature, Lamp has also inscribed the Orioles inning-by-inning line score from that day, and on the north panel above the signature, the White Sox line score from that day is also included. Included with the ball is a photograph of Lamp signing, as well as a COA from PSA/DNA (Z94754). Ball is tagged with corresponding PSA/DNA Hologram.
