This is a lot of 3 lifetime baseball passes issued to pitcher Rube Marquard, who played for 4 teams in an 18-year Hall of Fame career. Included here is a paper pass to the “American League of Professional Baseball Clubs” issued in 1971, a paper pass to the “National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues”, issued in 1977, and a silver-plated Major League Lifetime Pass. Raised lettering on the front of this substantial 2-3/4" x 4-1/4" pass reads, "The National and American Major Leagues of Professional Baseball, Present This Lifetime Pass to Rube Marquard, In Appreciation of Long and Meritorious Service, William Harridge, American League, Ford C. Frick, National League." Some of the writing exhibits substantial wear, but all is still quite legible. The manufacturer’s inscription, “Lambert Bros. Jewelers N.Y.” appears at the bottom edge of the otherwise unmarked back. The American League paper pass comes complete with a folding case which reads “Compliments of American League.” A rare collection of personal items directly attributed to a baseball Hall of Famer.
