Offered is 1 of the 5 Vintage Spalding Figural Baseball Trophies, a 1928 “First Baseman” style trophy. Crafted by Dieges & Clust from white metal, this 11” tall figure is set atop an oblong base, which in turn sits atop a black wooden bottom. The statue depicts a first baseman stretching to scoop a ball out of the dirt while keeping his foot on the bag. The base of the statue features a baseball with criss-crossing bats behind it, flanked on both side by the words “SPALDING” and “TROPHY.” Engraving on the baseball reads “Won By Bachmann Emmerich & Co. Inc. Champions 1928.” The black wooden base displays some slight cracking, but otherwise the Trophy appears in excellent condition. The Spalding Figural Trophies from the 20’s and 30’s are highly coveted, and this is a superb example from the series.
