In the spring of 2012 the Washington Nationals knew they had a future star in the form of center fielder Bryce Harper. After a great spring training with the big club, the Nats sent Harper to the Syracuse Stars, their top farm club. After a few weeks the Nats realized they couldn't live without the kid's bat and he debuted in the majors on April 27th. Harper made good on all the rosy predictions when he hit .270 with 22 homers and was named the NL's Rookie of the Year. This bat has been photo matched to having been used by Harper during the brief period he played for the Syracuse Stars prior to his April 27th call-up to the Nats. Two color prints of the future Rookie of the Year using the bat is included in this lot. The two-tone Marucci Luke1:P37 model bat is un-cracked and displays outstanding game use. The barrel shows many ball marks with stitch impressions along with white leather ball scuffs. Cleat marks are visible and the upper handle carries a light coat of pine tar. The lower handle has been taped to enhance the grip and the knob end has length and model specs stamped into it. You'd hard-pressed to find a finer bat dating from Harper's 2012 Rookie of the Year season. Letter of Authenticity (1b06426) from PSA/DNA who have graded this bat a perfect GU 10.
