No player better personified Twins excellence than Kirby Puckett. For 12 seasons he roamed centerfield and turned in year after year of hall of Fame numbers as he led the Twins to two World Championships. 1995, the year this bat was used, was turning into one of Puckett's finest when a fastball to the chin shared his jaw and ended his season. Puckett was tearing through spring training the next year when eye problems ended his career prematurely. The Twins superstar was elected to Cooperstown in 2001, his first year of eligibility, and he passed away just five years later. This Louisville Slugger P116 model bat was used by Puckett during that final 1995 season. The black-finished bat is un-cracked and shows outstanding game use. There is some checking on the left and back barrel along with many ball marks and stitch impressions. White leather ball scuffs can be seem with blue ink transfers and cleat imprints. The handle carries a heavy coat of pine tar and Puckett's number "34" has been written on the knob end in silver. A spectacular gamer from the final season of Puckett's Hall of Fame career. The bat comes from the collection of an employee of the Twins clubhouse retail outlet and his LOA is included. Letter of Authenticity (1B06087) from PSA/DNA who have graded this bat a perfect GU 10.
