This Miami Marlins black batting helmet was game worn and collected from Jose Fernandez at Marlins Park in Miami, FL on September 12, 2015. On that day, Fernandez held the visiting Washington Nationals to 2 hits through 5 scoreless innings, walking 1 and striking out 7 in earning his 5th victory of the season. More specific to this item, Fernandez went 1 for 1 at the plate, singling to right field off Nats starter Tanner Roark in the bottom of the 3rd. The size 7 3/8 Rawlings helmet features the Marlins “M” rainbow logo on the front and “16” centered on the back of the helmet, above the MLB logo. “7 3/8” has been written in silver marker on the inside.
