Before embarking on his remarkable Hall of Fame career with the Braves in 1988, John Smoltz spent time pitching for Atlanta’s AAA affiliate in Richmond, VA. Smoltz wore this game used blue pullover Braves jersey during the 1987 minor league season. Featuring “BRAVES” across the front in dark blue-on-white tackle twill, with the #46 on the front and back in matching style and “SMOLTZ” stitched in dark blue on a light blue nameplate on the back, this Wilson manufactured size 46 jersey also has a small square blue patch with “84” on the front left tail, indicating the year this jersey was used at the major league level before being repurposed for minor league use. The jersey shows moderate wear, and comes with an LOA from noted game use expert Dave Miedema.
