A gorgeous and super-strong, blue ink signature of Babe Ruth occupies the sweet spot of this ONL (Heydler) sphere. The ball displays beautifully as a "single," with Ruth's prized scripting radiating proudly from its place of honor, and two additional signatures – on separate side panels flanking the Babe's penmanship – pose no distraction. It's always intriguing to ponder the origins of a signed ball, though, especially one with this relic's incredible display properties. One of the "bonus" signatures is that of Jimmie Dykes, an American League contemporary of Ruth's. Dykes and Ruth were teammates on the '33 and '34 All-Star teams. Perhaps an autograph hound at that year's N.L. venue (the Polo Grounds) first obtained the White Sox infielder's name, and then exultantly called it a day after capturing the signature of Babe Ruth? In any case, the sight of this moderately used and highly displayable ball – with its wonderful sweet spot autograph – is one that's certain to gladden the observer's heart. LOA from JSA.
