The final Mid Summer Classic of the twentieth century turned out to be the most memorable since the annual game began in 1933. Held in Boston's Fenway Park, the game began with 20-time All-Star Ted Williams being chauffeured onto the field as the All-Century team stood in silent awe of this baseball legend. Before throwing out the first pitch, Ted Williams tipped his hat to the Fenway crowd, creating the most emotional moment in All-Star history. The game itself was just as memorable since Boston's ace Pedro Martinez made history by fanning the first three batters, eventually striking out five in two innings. This impressive ring stands as a vibrant expression of that historic All-Star Game. This is the exclusive premiere edition ring that was awarded to Boston Red Sox Assistant General Manager Edward P. Kenney. It's the same design that the American League All-Star team received, but manufactured in more highly desirable 10K gold with a real diamond instead of auralite with a cz stone, which the players received. It includes an intricate All-Star Game logo featuring “Boston” and the iconic Sox logo with the words “All-Star Game ‘99” on one shank in sculpted figural; the other has the American League emblem logo in the same fashion beneath a sculpted notation of "1912 Fenway Park." The inside of the band is stamped "Jostens 10K." Size 10 in EX-Near Mint condition. Accompanied by a Jostens presentation box and 2015 handwritten Letter of Authenticity from Edward P. Kenney that reads, "This is to confirm that the '99 All-Star ring is authentic and was presented to myself on July 12, 1999 by the Boston Red Sox and Major League Baseball. I was the Assistant GM / Boston in 1999." Mr. Kenney later served with the Baltimore Orioles and currently works as an international baseball consultant.
