Sometime between November 18, 1963 when President Kennedy returned from a Florida trip and November 20 when he and Jackie left on the fateful Texas trip, the first couple began signing that year's Christmas cards. Measuring 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" closed, the card features a color image of the Creche in the White House East Room on the front and the inside has an embossed Presidential seal above “With our wishes for a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year". John F. Kennedy has signed in bold black ink and Jackie has signed in fine blue ink. Because of the tight time frame in which the Kennedy's were able to sign these cards, only 15 bearing their signatures are known to exist and not even discovered until the mid-1980's. 1963 Christmas cards with facsimile signatures were also produced, but like the few with their actual signatures, they were never sent because of the events of November 22. The card is in fine condition with some edge wear from storage and age. The back top edge has a thin mounting strip which presumably was used to secure this piece in a scrapbook. The inside has the original fly-leaf present and John and Jacqueline Kennedy's signatures are perfectly preserved. Letter of Authenticity (V00460) from PSA/DNA.
