Established in 1966, the Victor Awards are given each year to recognize outstanding achievement in American sports, at both the professional and amateur level, and are presented in conjunction with a weekend-long fundraising event that benefits the City of Hope National Medical Center. In 2001, Denver Broncos running back Mike Anderson received a Victor Award as the Pro Football Rookie of the Year, following his outstanding 1,487 yard, 15-TD first season in the NFL. The award, a gold-colored statue with its right arm raised in the air, holding a laurel wreath in its outstretched hand stands on a golden base 5 ½” in diameter. Circling the base is an engraved golden ring that reads “Victor Awards XXXV * Mike Anderson * Pro Football Rookie of the Year * Voted By the National Sports Media * City of Hope * 2001”. Please note, there is significant wear on the base, including a crack in the top of the base, where the statue attaches the stand. The statue and stand are currently separated, but can be re-fastened via a screw in the bottom of the statue. This item comes with a LOA from Mike Anderson.
