Encapsulated by BVG with autograph assessed "Authentic" by JSA. A precise and clear ink signature has been placed on the reverse side of this otherwise unmarked, moderately circulated E120 "Series of 240" entry. Best known for his 1935 MVP exploits and his storied "Homer in the Gloamin'" to help clinch the N.L. flag three seasons later, "Gabby" Hartnett also broke Ray Schalk's record of 1,727 games as a catcher – and was Carl Hubbell's All-Star batterymate when the Giants star fanned five Hall of Famers in succession. Hartnett was enshrined at Cooperstown in 1955 and passed away in 1972. (JSA Cert. #B50157)
