The start to Mike Trout’s Major League Baseball career couldn’t have been scripted better, as the 20-year old took home the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 2012 while finishing 2nd in the MVP race. He followed that up with another 2nd place finish in MVP voting in 2013, so there was expectation throughout the league that the third season would be the MVP charm for Trout. He did not disappoint, batting .287 with a then-career high 36 home runs and 111 RBI to finally capture his first of what will undoubtedly be multiple MVP Awards. Trout used this Old Hickory MT27* model bat during his 2014 campaign, made clear by the many ball marks with stitch impressions, blue ink transfers and white leather ball scuffs that pepper the barrel. The lower handle of the bat has been wrapped with adhesive tape to enhance the grip, while a heavy coat of Mota Stick has been applied halfway up the handle. Stamped into the bat’s barrel band is “33.5 PRO MAPLE MT27*”, indicating length and model, with the work order beneath reading “1312447-MT18”, which is December 2013, work order 447, Trout’s initials and the 18th bat in that order. Trout has added his signature to the barrel of the bat in silver marker, including the inscription “14 G/U MVP”. Trout’s #27 is written in black marker on the end of the bat handle, which is also tagged with a hologram (1401) from Anderson Authentics, Trout’s official memorabilia agent. Also included is an LOA (1B06999) from PSA/DNA, who has graded this MVP bat a perfect GU 10, as well as an LOA from JSA with regards to signature authenticity.
