For the third time in as many years the Cleveland Browns faced the Detroit Lions for the 1954 NFL Championship Game. The game was held on December 26, 1954 at Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium. Detroit drew first blood but once the Browns got on the scoreboard they were unstoppable, pounding the Lions 56-10. One of the touchdowns was a 12 yard run by Curly Morrison. After the game Morrison was presented with one of the game balls, a Wilson Thorpe model with three of the panels painted with an awesome 1950's style illustration to commemorate the Championship. One panel has the Brownie mascot in the classic "Heisman Trophy pose" with "Cleveland BROWNS 1954 WORLD PRO CHAMPIONS" in colorful hand painted lettering. A second panel lists ever game Browns game played in 1954 and the scores capped off by the Championship 56-10 win against Detroit. The ball has cracking paint on all three panels from age. The lettering and graphics display wonderfully and Curly Morrison has signed one of the panels in silver pen adding his number "32". A great hand painted game ball from one of the pre-Super Bowl era's biggest rivalries.
