Terry Cummings was the star of Chicago's Carver High basketball team and it was only natural DePaul University snatched up the hometown kid. In his collegiate career Cummings averaged 16 points a game and was named College Player of the Year for the 1981-1982 season. This coveted trophy has an abstract 11" tall golden mother and child figure surrounded by a silver colored structure mimicking the stitching on a basketball. "NBA PLAYERS" in silver colored letters are mounted to the front. The piece is mounted on a 4 1/2" tall black wooded base upon which an engraved silver plaque proclaims "The Winston Awards College Player of the Year 1981-1982 Terry Cummings DePaul University National Basketball Players Association". Measuring 9" x 15" overall, this is a very impressive trophy. The back finish on base has chipped in some places, most significantly on the left side of the silver plaque, and there are several nicks in the base most noticeably on the left top of the plaque. The basketball structure has missing paint in some places as does the edges of the letters mounted on it. Signed Letter of Authenticity from Terry Cummings.
