This important offering contains elements from the personal life and times of the Father of Our Country, George Washington. Majestically exhibited in the 15" x 15" matted-and-framed display are the following:

Approximately Six Strands of George Washington's Hair - The first owner of this hair was probably Eleanor Parke Custis, the granddaughter of Martha Washington by her first marriage. Eleanor was adopted by George Washington and was raised at Mount Vernon. A later owner, Colonel Levin Powell (1738-1810) was an intimate friend of Washington and a Revolutionary War hero. When Colonel Powell ran for Congress, a race in which he was successful, Washington rode ten miles on his old iron-gray charger to cast a vote for his friend at the county poll.

George Washington's Signature - A dark-ink signature appearing on an excised portion of an original multi-signed 1769 indenture document. Toning and two reinforced separations (one touching the first name's second "g") are present, and the "ton" at the conclusion of Washington's name has been reinforced. LOA from PSA/DNA.

A Piece of George Washington's Cloak - A swatch of burgundy-colored velvet with a hand-stitched edge. The approximately 5/8" x 5/8" fabric piece was excised from a larger cloak remnant that had been sold in a group with Martha Washington's handkerchiefs, lace and hair.

The elegantly framed gallery of artifacts also features a portrait image, as well as a summary plaque reading, "George Washington - 1732-1799 - 'First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen' - A signature, a piece of his coat and a lock of his hair."
