Offered is an official National League of Professional Baseball Clubs Uniform Player’s Contract for Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby for the salary of $13,500 for the 1933 season. The 3-page front and back written contract was between Hornsby and the St. Louis Cardinals. Hornsby spent his first 12 seasons with the Cardinals from 1915-1926. After stops with the New York Giants, Boston Braves and Chicago Cubs, Hornsby made his return to the Gateway City for the start of the 1933 season. Despite batting a respectable .325, the Cardinals place Hornsby on waivers in July of 1933, where he was claimed by the last place St. Louis Browns. The contract measures 8 ½ x 11 inches in its expanded state, and is in good condition. It has the usual folds most of these contracts exhibit. The date of this multi-signed contract is October 22nd, 1932 and has been signed by Rogers Hornsby (the player), Branch Rickey (General Manager) and John Heydler (National League President), which bound this contract as official. This contract comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA08133).
