Ken Griffey, Jr. announced his arrival in the majors by blasting a double in his first at-bat. Thus began the career of the best natural talent the game had seen since Mickey Mantle. By the time Junior called it a career in 2010 he was a member of the 600 Home Run Club, AL MVP, 4-time home run champion and the winner of 10 Golden Glove Awards.
The Cooper C271 model bat shows moderate use with a handle crack that has been secured with tape. Several ball marks with stitch impressions are on the barrel with white leather ball scuffs and blue ink transfers. The handle has been scored to enhance the grip. The bat’s length “34” and weight “31oz” are stamped into the knob end. A notarized statement accompanies the bat from the owner attesting to its acquisition from Ken Griffey, Jr. on August 24, 1989. Letter of Authentication from PSA/DNA (1B09159).
