This Russell Athletic New York Yankees home jersey was worn by Mariano Rivera during the 1997 MLB season, Mo’s first season closing games for the Bombers. The size 46 button-down pinstripe jersey has Rivera’s number "42" sewn on in navy blue tackle twill on the back, while the front features the iconic interlocking “NY” sewn on the upper left chest. A white tag reading “Rivera 97” is stitched just below the Russell manufacturer’s tag on the front left tail. The “Jackie Robinson 50th” patch adorns the right sleeve, especially notable since Rivera would eventually be the last Major Leaguer to wear Robinson’s number 42 after it was retired league-wide in 1997. The jersey shows light wear, and comes with a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema, as well as a LOA from JT Sports and has been photo matched by John Robinson to the 1997 All-Star Game in Cleveland.
