In one of the greatest World Series of all-time, the 1986 Fall Classic pitted two cities that were starved for a World Series title. The series pitted the New York Mets, who were traditionally second-fiddle to their cross-town rival New York Yankees (winners of 22 World Series titles at that time) and the Boston Red Sox, who had won a World Series since the Babe Ruth days of 1918.

Game 6 will forever remembered as the Bill Buckner game, when Mookie Wilson’s ground ball in the bottom of the 10th inning, squirted through Buckner’s legs allowing Ray Knight to cross the plate with the winning run and force a Game 7. The Red Sox had taken a two-run lead going to the bottom of the 10th inning at Shea Stadium and were one-strike away on several occasions, only to be thwarted by the Mets.

This “OFFICIAL BALL 1986 WORLD SERIES Peter Ueberoth Commissioner” red stamped baseball was used during that historic Game 6. This baseball shows outstanding game use with numerous dirt stains and scuff marks and has the “198 World Series” logo stamped on the side panel in red. Adding to the appeal of this game used baseball are the signatures and inscriptions of the two key players of that fateful 10th inning, Bill Buckner and Mookie Wilson. Both have signed their names on opposite side panels in blue pen and each has inscriptions. Wilson’s inscriptions reads “Game 6 Used Ball” and Buckner’s reads “10/25/86 Game 6 Shea”. This game used and signed baseball comes with a full LOA from Mears, who have graded his baseball as “Authentic” and a STICKER ONLY from PSA/DNA (B60075). There are also holograms from Steiner and MLB Authenticated (MR 407012).
