Presented here are three bats used by Evan Longoria during the 2015 season. These bats are Louisville Slugger I13 model bats that feature varying degrees of wear and are signed by the Rays’ third baseman.
The first bat was used on April 6, 2015, during a game against the Baltimore Orioles at Tropicana Field. This game, the Rays first of the season, finished a 6-2 Oriole victory. Longoria went 1 for 4 with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The very next inning, Longoria broke this bat during his inning-ending at-bat against Orioles pitcher Tommy Hunter. The bat has a large crack in the handle and shows light game use. The handle is stained with pine tar. A decal on the knob features the Red Bull logo and Longoria’s number “3.”Longoria signed the barrel of the bat in blue Sharpie. He added the inscription “Game Used April 6, 2015 Orioles at TB.” This bat has a PSA/DNA COA (AB98625) and a MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ 745566).
The second bat was used on May 8, 2015, an 8-2 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers. Longoria went 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in this game. He cracked this bat in a second inning at-bat against Yovani Gallardo that ended with Longoria flying out to right field. The bat shows good use and is heavily stained with pine tar. The handle has a small crack. A decal on the knob features the Red Bull logo and Longoria’s number “3.”Longoria signed the barrel of the bat in blue Sharpie. He inscribed “Game Used May 8, 2015 Texas at TB.” This item has a PSA/DNA COA (AB98626) and a MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ 769886).
The final bat was used on September 23, 2015, a 6-2 Rays victory over the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Longoria went 1-5, with his only hit a single in 1st inning. This bat is cracked, and shows excellent evidence of game use. There is heavy pine tar staining between the handle and the barrel. A decal on the knob features the Red Bull logo. Longoria signed the barrel in blue Sharpie, adding the inscription “Game Used September 23, 2015 Tampa at Boston.” This bat comes with a PSA/DNA COA (AB98624) and a MLB Authenticated hologram (JB 021616).
