This Hillerich & Bradsby was used by Carl Yastrzemski during the 1973-1975 seasons. During that period Yaz hit the ball at a .288 clip and led the AL in Runs in 1974. A perennial All-Star, Yaz’s big bat help the Sox club their way back into the post-season in 1975. The Hillerich & Bradsby W125 model bat shows moderate use. There is a handle crack and the barrel exhibits checking from repeated ball contact. Several ball marks with stitch impressions can be seen and tape has been removed from the barrel. The presence of tape on the barrel indicates that this may have been used for batting practice. A light coat of pine tar is on the handle and model number “W125” stamped into the knob. Yaz’s number “8” and the bat’s weight “33 ¼” are written on the knob in black marker. A Yaz signature in blue marker completes this piece of Red Sox history. This bat comes with full LOAs from PSA/DNA (1B10079 & AA06959).
