One of the best-selling musical artists of all-time, rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur (1971-1996) has sold more than 75 million records worldwide. Shakur’s second studio album titled “ Strictly 4 MY NIGGAZ”, was released on February 16, 1993 and sold nearly 1.7 million copies in the United States, earning it platinum status. Similar to his debut, 2Pacalypse Now, the album contains many tracks emphasizing 2Pac's political and social views.
This RIAA Certified Gold Record Sales Award was presented to Tupac Shakur during the album’s gold status. The gold record displays art from the 1993 album “Strictly 4 MY NIGGAZ” LP, along with a golden cassette tape that reads “Gold Sales Award”. A plaque below the LP reads “PRESENTED TO TUPAC SHAKUR TO COMMEMORATE THE SALE OF MORE THAN 500,000 COPIES OF THE INTERSCOPE RECORDS ALBUM, CASSETTE AND C.D. 2 PAC “STRICTLY 4 MY N.I.G.G.A.Z””. Plaque is bordered in black and the RIAA logo reading “RIAA Certified Sales Award” along with a mounted CD of the album. Gold record, tape and plaque have a brown matte background, mounted in a 17 x 21 inch black frame. The frame shows some minor dings and scratches. Letter of provenance from Tupac relative.
