Martin Luther King’s 1964 book “Why We Can’t Wait” was written about the nonviolent movement against racial segregation in the United States and focuses on the 1963 Birmingham campaign and that year being a significant landmark year for the Civil Rights Movement. Offered is this “Why We Can’t Wait” book that has been signed by Martin Luther King in bold blue pen on the first inside page. King also inscribed “To Daniel Scott With Best Wishes” all in blue pen as well. The book shows definite signs of age, with toning and a small tear in the book cover. All of the pages are still intact and the binder is in excellent condition. Handwritten on the side pages is “D SCOTT” in black marker, along with “Daniel L. Scott 4949 Sansom St. Phila, Pa. 19139” in blue pen on the upper right corner of the page where King has his signature and inscription. Also included with this signed book is a folded program from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. “PUBLIC MEETING” dated August 10, 1964 where King was a guest speaker. This program has been folded and visible creases are present. This signed book comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AB07042).
