The most storied baseball franchise, the New York Yankees, is celebrated in this special lot. No other team in baseball is close to the 27 World Series titles won by the Bronx Bombers. In fact, the team with the next highest number of World Series wins is the St. Louis Cardinals with 11.
Offered in this lot are ticket stubs and a full ticket from the clinching games from the Yankees first victory in 1923 all the way to their most recent World Series title in 2009. This amazing lot spans an 86-year period of Yankee dominance beginning with Babe Ruth homering in each of the first three World Series clinching games for the Yankees including three home runs in game four of the Yankees sweep of the Cardinals in 1928. Each ticket is graphically different from the next, representing 86 years of history and design. The number of historic stadiums represented is staggering: The Polo Grounds, Crosley Field, Sportsmans Park, Ebbets Field, Dodger Stadium, Wrigley Field and of course Yankee Stadium. Out of the 27 tickets represented, it's staggering to be reminded that eight of them are from Game 4, a stunning number of World Series sweeps.
The rarity of compiling this type of collection can be seen in the fact that we have only offered one similar to it in the past and, when we did, it commanded nearly $57,000.
