The sports world received the shock of a lifetime in 1993 when Michael Jordan called a press conference and declared that he’d lost the desire to play basketball. An aftershock followed: he was going to pursue a professional baseball career! The Chicago White Sox snapped up Jordan and took him to spring training where he was evaluated and farmed out to Double A Birmingham. Jordan struggled, managing only a .202 average but seemed to improve in the Arizona Fall League. Unfortunately baseball went on strike and Jordan abruptly gave up his diamond dreams, holding a press conference and declaring simply “I’m back.” This Louisville Slugger C243 model bat dates from Jordan’s single year of professional baseball. The bat is un-cracked and shows excellent use. Jordan’s famous number “45” has cross-sports and has been hand written on the knob end. “MICHAEL JORDAN” and “CHICAGO WHITE SOX” has been stamped into the barrel of this C243. A great gamer from Michael Jordan’s short foray into professional baseball. This bat coems with a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA who have graded this sports oddity a GU 9.
