Presented here is a typed letter signed by the late Commissioner of Baseball A. Bartlett Giamatti. This typed letter, dated February 23, 1988, was drafted on “The National League of Professional Baseball Clubs” where he served as National League President from 1986-1989 before he took over as commissioner. This 7 ¼ x 10 ½ inch paper was addressed and reads:

     Dear Mr. Wright:

     Thank you for the copy of Mr. Holway’s Blackball Stars. I look forward to reading it. It looks to be a splendid volume. I appreciate very much your thinking of me.

     Giamatti signed his name in bold blue pen above his typed out official name. The letter is in good condition with only very slight toning, staple holes on the top left corner and three folded creases. Also included is the envelope in which this letter was mailed in with February 24, 1988 postage marks in black and red. This signed letter comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (AB98567).
