“Mr. Automatic” used this bat during his first three seasons in the Majors. Chico Cardenas easily filled the shoes of the Reds’ injured All-Star Roy McMillan and made that position his own for the next seven years. Cardenas’ big bat helped the Reds reach the World Series in 1961 and his Hillerich & Bradsby K55 model bat shows outstanding use with a handle crack repaired with clubhouse nails. Cardenas’ number “16” is hand written on the knob end. The presence of vivid white leather ball scuffs on this vintage bat indicates that it has seen some action after Chico Cardenas. This bat comes with a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA (1B10356).
