Former Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield was the consummate workhorse for the Boston Red Sox. As starter and reliever, Wakefield offered the Red Sox versatility and the ability to eat innings to save their bullpen.

The 2004 season saw Wakefield finish with a 12-10 record and a 4.87 ERA and was a key contributor to the team that won the World Series for the first time since 1918. This size 50 Russell Athletic button-down Red Sox jersey was worn by Wakefield during that historic 2004 season for Boston. This jersey features the traditional old-style “RED SOX” arched across the chest in red and navy blue tackle twill. Red piping surrounds the collar and runs down each side of the buttons. The back of the jersey has Wakefield’s “49” sewn on in red and navy blue in the classic number style. The MLB logo patch is sewn on the upper neck above the red piping and the Russell Athletic tag with the size 50 flap and “2004” tag are sewn on the bottom front left tail. The Russell Athletic logo is embroidered in red and navy blue on the left sleeve and the jersey shows light use with only a loose thread on the “9” of the “49” on the back of the jersey. This comes with a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
