Did anyone really believe that the greatest franchise in baseball history would somehow not christen its brand-new Yankee Stadium with a world championship? It was of course the Bronx Bombers' unparalleled 27th World Series victory and it came at the expense of the then-reigning champion Phillies. Hideki Matsui captured W.S. MVP honors for his astronomical .615 average, 3 HRs and 8 RBIs, while Derek Jeter batted a not-too-shabby .407 with a trio of doubles.
This Balfour 14K-gold, size 9 ring belonged to Yankee staffer and Dominican scout Jose Sabino. The glittering showpiece features an array of diamonds with Yankee Stadium II depicted in raised-relief on the shank and then again in a commemorative "Inaugural Season" imprint inside the band. NM condition. Accompanied by a "NY WORLD CHAMPIONS 2009" embossed wooden presentation box (2-3/4" x 2-3/4" x 2-1/4", EX exterior, VG interior).
