In his first 10 seasons in the Major Leagues with the New York Mets, Hall of Famer Tom Seaver led the National League in strikeouts five times and was the National League Cy Young Award winner in 1969, 1973 and 1975. Seaver also led the Mets to the “Miracle” 1969 World Series Title and the 1973 National League Pennant. On June 15, 1977, Seaver was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for four players in which New York reporters referred to it, along with the Dave Kingman trade as the “Midnight Massacre”. Subsequently, the Mets started their downward spiral to finish out the decade until their return to the upper echelon of teams in the mid 1980s.

After spending five-plus quality seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, first ballot Hall of Famer Seaver made his triumphant return to New York in 1983 with the Mets, before finishing his career with the White Sox and Red Sox. Offered is this home, pinstripe Mets jersey that has been photo-matched by Resolution Photomatching to Seaver's first win back as a Met in 1983 on April 20th where he pitched a complete game, a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts, during the 6-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Shea Stadium.

This size 46 pullover white Rawlings jersey with blue pinstripes features “Mets” sewn across the chest in script in blue on orange tackle twill, with his “41” sewn on center left chest below the team name. A blue v-neck collar and 2-inch ribbed orange/blue/orange vertical stripes run down the shoulder to end of sleeves and down each side. A 1 ½ x 3 inch red Rawlings tag with ACTION TAILORED “THE MARK OF A PRO” and a “SET 1 1983” flap are sewn on the inside back neck. Below the Rawlings tag is a 1 x 2 inch white team tag with “41 83 1” embroidered in blue, indicating the player, year and set. The back of the jersey features “SEAVER” sewn on in blue and orange on white name plate, with his number “41” sewn on in blue and orange. Seaver has signed his name in bold black marker on the front of the jersey and inscribed “To Charlie Till we meet again!”. The jersey shows moderate game use with minor staining and stitching wear. This jersey comes with a full LOA from Mears, who have given this jersey a perfect A-10 grade, a photo match from John Robinson of Resolution Photomatching and a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07828) for his signature.
