The late Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn had his typical solid season with the San Diego Padres in 1998. Gwynn batted a healthy .321 with 10 home runs and 62 RBI. The 1998 season was not a typical one for Gwynn and the Padres as they went on to win the National League Pennant.
This navy blue San Diego Padres alternate jersey was worn by Gwynn during the pennant-winning 1998 season. This size 50 Russell Athletic button-down jersey features “PADRES” sewn across the chest in navy blue, white and orange tackle twill. White piping runs along the collar and down each side of the buttons. There is also white piping one-inch of each sleeve end with the Russell Athletic logo embroidered in white on the right sleeve and the “Swinging Friar” logo patch sewn on the left sleeve. “GWYNN” is sewn on in white on a matching navy blue name plate on the back of the jersey and below the name is Gwynn’s number “19” sewn on in orange and white. Gwynn signed his name vertically in black marker on the back “1” of his “19”. This jersey shows light game use and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07814) for his signature and a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
