Hall of Famer Greg Maddux was coming off four of the best consecutive seasons by a pitcher in baseball history when he wore this size 44 Atlanta Braves road jersey in 1996. Considered perhaps the greatest pitcher of his era, Maddux won four consecutive Cy Young Awards from 1992-1995, posting respective ERA’s of 2.18, 2.36, 1.56 and 1.63. He also led the league in wins three of the same four years, and won 20 games in the other all while leading the league in innings pitched in all four years of his Cy Young streak and the season before it started.
The “Atlanta” cursive name and tomahawk logo are stitched in red and navy blue tackle twill across the front of this button down jersey with red and navy piping trim running along both sides of the buttons and around the shirt sleeves. Maddux’s name is stitched in navy blue on a matching gray nameplate across the back above his number “31” in red tackle twill with blue trim. Maddux signed the top of the “3” in his number in black felt tip pen with a “92-95 CY” inscription. A Russell Athletic manufacturers label with “44” and (2” EXTRA LENGTH) flag tag is attached at the left front tail. This jersey shows light to moderate game use and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07815) for his signature and inscription, along with a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
