Scouring auction records of the past 20 years, we can only find two 1973 Dolphins rings that have surfaced publicly. In 2015, we had the honor of offering Bob Heinz's player ring for over $66,000. And way back in 2003, there was a prior example belonging to equipment manager Al Torres, who is known to have produced more than one. This superior specimen, which has resided in a private collection for the past quarter-century, boasts the additional provenance of its colorful wooden presentation box (3-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 2-1/2", NM) with the Dolphins logo and "1972-1973 BACK-TO-BACK." The Jostens 10K-gold, size 10 showpiece features CZ stones and rates NM condition. It is accompanied by both a 1992 purchase LOA and a fax copy of Torres' 1992 LOA reading, "I am selling you the 2 Dolphin rings that I received from working for the Miami Dolphins as an assistant equipment manager from 1972-1974."
