2001 was a record-breaking season for the Seattle Mariners as they set the regular season wins mark with 116, eclipsing the 1998 New York Yankees total of 114. The catalyst for that tremendous season was a Japanese sensation Ichiro Suzuki. Ichiro’s 2001 season saw him lead the league with a .350 batting average, 242 hits and 56 stolen bases. In doing so, Ichiro became the second player in history to win the Rookie of the Year and MVP Award in the same season, joining the Red Sox’s Fred Lynn, who accomplished the same feat in 1975.

This size 48 Russell Athletic button-down knit Seattle Mariners navy blue alternate jersey was worn by Ichiro during his historic 2001 season. Featuring “MARINERS” sewn on across the chest in silver, navy blue and teal green tackle twill, this jersey shows light to moderate game use. Silver piping runs along the collar and down each side of the buttons, with the Russell Athletic tag and the “2001” tag sewn on at the bottom of the front left tail. The back of the jersey has “ICHIRO” sewn on in silver and teal green on a matching navy blue name plate with his number “51” sewn on in silver and teal green. The MLB logo patch is sewn on the upper back neck with Mariner’s colors. The left sleeve has the “2001 All-Star Game Seattle” patch above the embroidered white Russell Athletic logo. This jersey comes with a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
