The 1936-1939 Yankees have gone down in history as the most dominant team in Major League history. During that stretch the New Yorkers won the World Series every year, the last two in four-game sweeps. The 1937 team, with Lou Gehrig (.351/37/159) and Joe DiMaggio (.346/46/167), had one of the most potent offensive lineups since the 1927 squad. Red Ruffing and Lefty Gomez each won over 20 games and with Johnny Murphy coming out of the bullpen the Yanks were virtually unbeatable, cruising to the pennant with a 13 games cushion. The Yankees then faced their cross-town rivals, the Giants, in the World Series. To illustrate their complete dominance the Yanks outscored the Giants 32 to 12 and dispatched them in five games. Although the core of the '36-'39 dynasty was virtually the same, there were slight roster changes that make each edition unique. Pitcher Frank Makosky played only a single year in the Majors, making this identifiable as a 1937 signed ball. Please note that PSA/DNA has deemed the signatures of Dickey, DiMaggio, Crosetti, Gomez and McCarthy clubhouse versions, a common practice in that era.

This Reach Official American League Harridge ball shows light toning with age. The stamping is very light but still visible. A very light coat of shellack coats the surface and has flaked off in a few spots, most noticeably near the Bill Dickey, Jake Powell and Red Ruffing signatures. The signatures range from 10/10 to 4/10. Ideally and uncharacteristically, Lou Gehrig has signed the ball's sweet spot. Up and coming star Joe DiMaggio has signed the ball just to the left of Gehrig. The other Hall of Famers include manager Joe McCarthy, Lefty Gomez, Tony Lazzeri, Bill Dickey and Red Ruffing. The rest of the World Champs on this ball include Joe Vance, Monte Pearson, Tom Henrich, Paul Andrews (signed twice), Johnny Murphy, Frank Crosetti, Red Rolfe, George Selkirk, Bump Hadley, Frank Makosky, Myril Hoag, Jake Powell, Jake Saltzgaver, Art Jorgens, Don Heffner and Kemp Wicker. An absolutely stunning ball, from the greatest dynasty in baseball history and it comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07794). Please note that PSA/DNA has deemed the signatures of Dickey, DiMaggio, Crosetti, Gomez and McCarthy as clubhouse versions, a common practice in that era.
