The 1969 New York Yankees were a team in transition. Mickey Mantle had just retired and the team struggled in the newly formed American League Eastern Division. However, 1969 saw the debut of future captain and Yankee legend Thurman Munson, who played his first ever game on August 8th.
Offered is an Official National League Warren Giles baseball signed by 19 members of the 1969 team in black ink, including a signature from a young Thurman Munson. The cream colored baseball is in excellent condition and the stamping is clear. Mel Stottlemyre signed his name on the sweet spot with the panel below containing Munson’s signature, along with Horace Clarke, Tom Shopay, Bill Burbach and Al Downing. Another panel has Jerry Kenney, John Ellis, Len Boehmer, Mike Kekich and Jake Gibbs. The panel above the commissioner’s stamp contains the signatures of Dave McDonals, Ron Woods, Lindy McDaniel and Jack Aker. The panel with the “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER” stamp has the signatures of Bill Robinson, Steve Hamilton, Gene Michael and Stan Bahnsen. This multi-signed baseball comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07854).
