Yes, that NCAA Finals. Although Chris Webber racked up 23 points and 11 boards, he will always be notoriously remembered for calling the phantom timeout with 11 seconds left that resulted in a technical foul, Donald Williams' two free throws, and a convincing Tar Heels victory. Webber has never spoken much about the incident publicly, but earlier this year, journalist Mac Engel wrote a blog article called "The Time I Asked Chris Webber About His Infamous Timeout," which reads in part: "'I still hear about it probably once every game. At least ... at least,' Webber said. 'I heard it a lot in Houston. As far as fans yelling, "Webber, call a timeout! Call a timeout!" It's not that funny now.' Eight years removed from the play, Webber has a sense of humor about his mistake. His mother convinced him to name one of his charities the 'Timeout Foundation.'" Offered here is a salesman's sample version of the "MICHIGAN WOLVERINES NATIONAL FINALISTS" ring that C-Webb received. Produced by Herff Jones, the 10K-gold, size 10-3/4 showpiece is crowned with an inlaid "M" and features CZ stones. There are also 4 small CZ stones. Engraved inside the band is ID code "R5600SX." NM condition.
