Ever since he came to New York in 1995, Derek Jeter slowly and methodically carved out a place for himself among the Yankee greats. Just as the numbers 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9 bring to mind men who were the best of the very best, Jeter’s number 2 now holds that same awed respect. For two decades The Captain reached milestone after milestone as he led the Yankees to five World Championships.

This pinstripe uniform set was worn by Derek Jeter during the game in which another of those career milestones were surpassed, necessitating the record books to be updated. On July 22, 2014 the Rangers came to Yankee Stadium. The game was a nail biter, won in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the 14 with Chase Headley’s walk off single. But the real excitement happened five innings earlier when Derek Jeter made history. Facing Neal Cotts in the bottom of the 9th, The Captain hit a line drive to left field for career double number 535. With that double in the books, Derek Jeter’s name is now atop the Yankees’ all-time leader lists for single games played, stolen bases and doubles.

This home uniform set was worn by Jeter during that historic game. The classic pinstripe jersey has the intertwined “NY” on the left front chest. Majestic label is sewn in the left front tail with size “46” and “2014” tagging. A New York Yankees bar code label is affixed below on which an MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ 164747) has been placed. The back has Jeter’s number “2” in navy tackle twill upon which he has signed his name in silver pen. A Steiner hologram is placed below. The jersey shows good game use with some turf marks and pine tar stains throughout, but no rips or tears. The matching pinstripe pants have the Majestic label sewn inside the waistband. “#2 Jeter 35-40 36 OB ’13” is printed in black on the label and a MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ 164748) is affixed along with two additional Steiner holograms. The two snap buttons and zipper are present and working. The pants show good game use with some light pine tar staining and turf marks as expected from a set of pants worn in an extra inning game. Jeter has signed the left front top of the pants in blue marker.
